The Steel Tank Institute / Steel Plate Fabricators Association (STI/SPFA) featured Paso Robles Tank CEO Larry Wombles in its “7 on 7” interview series in April 2025.
Wombles reflects on his path from boilermaker — following military service — to owner of Paso Robles Tank, which he purchased in 2006. He describes growing the company from shop fabrication into field-erected tank manufacturing and one of the leading welded steel water tank producers in the western United States, and the 2011 expansion that brought turnkey services together under parent company ACE.
The conversation touches on the mentors who shaped his career, the value of industry collaboration through STI/SPFA, the ongoing challenge of evolving codes and safety and environmental standards, and what he is proudest of: watching his sons grow through the business.
