This project scope covered the removal and replacement of a shovel-bottom floor in an existing Oily Waste Tank used to hold waste and bilge water from sea ships. Project further included cutting door sheet into the tank shell, removal and storage of a raker arm assembly, removal of corroded tank floor and sump drain, removal of all sub-grade materials to concrete containment, replacement of drain piping, sub-grade material, drain sump and new floor.
Complications included removal and replacement of the floor in the exact orientation and location in order to reuse the existing raker arm assembly with no conflicts. Hazardous material removal also required delicate attention to detail and great care.
