This 1.4 million gallon reservoir features a halo support system which utilizes three columns to disperse the weight of its press-broke cone roof. The press-broke roof design creates additional strength and eliminates the need for the typical channel/beam rafter design. It was erected as part of demolishing and removing an existing concrete reservoir and installing a welded steel tank. This provides the district with a superior and longer lasting product to serve the community’s needs for years to come.
This tank is equipped with a spiral staircase complete with a galvanized security enclosure and roof platform. This project posed unique obstacles during both the design and erection process. The lower 5′ of this tank is buried underground which necessitated the design and construction of heavy equipment ramps so a crane and other equipment could access the tank. This challenge was exacerbated by the tank’s 108′ diameter. The tank’s large footprint coupled with it being surrounded by businesses as well as homes on all sides left only a narrow access road as an entry point for all materials and equipment.
